Check out our A Plague Tale: Innocence walkthrough and guide to find out how to survive longer in this violent world.
Saving Progress
The game automatically saves your progress at certain points so you will never lose much progress if the game unexpectedly crashed for some reason. At the bottom of the sreen a little diamond shape will appear with a spark around it to indicate the game is saving your progress. To ensure your game has been saved make sure you do not quit it until the icon has appeared and then disappered again. There is no way you can manually save your game in A Plague Tale: Innocence.
Difficulty Settings
There are no difficulty settings in A Plague Tale: Innocence, everyone who plays the game will go through the same experience. As the game progresses you will discover that the puzzles the game presents you with will become more challenging and the enemies you encounter will be tougher. More often than not the solution to the environmental puzzles will involve finding something that is nearby.
Killing Guards
Remember that Amicia is just a child who doesn't have any kind of supernatural powers so attacking a fully grown adult that is trained to kill is not something you should avoid doing unless it is necessary to advance in the game. Use your rock and sling and aim at the guards unarmoured heads to kill them. Do not try and kill guards if there are more than two of them in your way as they will overwhelm you.
Upgrade Carrying Capacity
You will not be able to upgrade your carrying capacity until you reach the old woman's house in Chapter 2. Upgrading your carrying capacity is done using the Workbench which is ouside of her house. It can also be used to upgrade your sling and other equipment. To use a Workbench you simply have to interact with it, you will be able to upgrade your carrying capacity 6 times in total.
Sulphur
Sulpur is one of the key ingredients to anything that has to do with fire and should be picked up whenever you see it. The easiest way to find Sulphur is to do a puzzle that requires it to be solved as the game will place it nearby. Sulphur is also awarded to Amicia and Hugo when they open chests or look on random tables in the game.
Resources
You should always keep an eye out for resources as they are needed to craft projectiles and potions. The best places to search for them are chests and any side paths leading from the main road.
Equip Ignifer
Make sure you always equip Ignifer. This item is used to light up torches and burn objects to create a path for you, it can also be used to ward off rats. Use Slingshot to shoot the Ignifer on torches or haystacks in the field. Ignifer can be crafted using 1x Rock, 1x Sulfur, and 1x Alcohol.
Don't leave Hugo
Aside from the first level when you are forced to leave Hugo briefly should avoid any situations where you have to leave the boy alone. Leaving Hugo alone for too long will make him panic and reveal your location to your pursuers. Although Hugo will slow you down considerably it is possible to complete all the levels with him.
