Your hero has access to three skill trees. To enable them, you need to spend Ability Points, which you’ll earn upon leveling up. It’s not recommended to stick to one skill three only. Be versatile by getting skills from all skill trees that will allow you to deal with a large variety of situations and make your life a whole lot easier.
Activated abilities are powerful actions that can be assigned to a command button. You’ll have to trigger them by either holding the L1 or L2 buttons. If you want to replace and use a different skill, you may do so from the Abilities menu as well. Some activated abilities can be further upgraded but can be locked by a level requirement or story progress.
Many activated abilities require Adrenaline to be used. This gauge, found below your character’s HP gauge fills up automatically by landing hits, dodging attacks, parrying attacks, and more. Consider this as MP in a traditional RPG sense.
Passive abilities unlock permanent bonuses and actions to your character. You don’t need to activate them as they’ll be permanently active for the rest of the game.
Baseline Abilities are the default skills that your hero already has. Eye of Ikaros and Leap of Faith can be upgraded further by meeting the required number of synchronizations and level. Man at Arms is a baseline ability that you’ll automatically learn by reaching LV15.
