Anno 1800 is a city building real-time strategy video game that takes place in the 19th century at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution. In the game you will grow a small, rustic farming community into a prosperous, bustling, cultured city by harnessing the mighty powers of steam and steel. You will also discover new technologies, continents, and societies as you build a new world. The game features a story campaign that spans four chapters and revolves around a family business where the death of the patriarch sets off a power struggle.
Control Game Speed
Take advantage of the option to control the game speed by using the + and - keys. You will find this particularly useful when you are waiting for bricks or steel to be produced.
Maintain High Productivity
Always check your buildings to ensure they are maintaining high productivity. This can be checked by clicking on the building and ensuring you have assigned the maximum number of employees.
Create Fields for Farms
Select a farm that you have placed. To the left of the spinning wheel you will be able to view information about the current number of fields. If you now click on the field icon you will be able to specify how much of the ground around the building you want to cultivate. Take advantage of this option to save a lot of space that can be used for other purposes.
Excess Goods
Ensure that there are enough warehouses on your island to store all your goods and any excess you may have is either sold or sent to a different island.
Improve City Attractiveness
Your City Attractiveness is defined by culture, nature, and festivity. To add these qualities to your city you need to add a zoo and a museum and collect exotic animals for the the zoo and ancient artifacts for the museum.
Rare Animals
In order to get exotic animals for your zoo so you increae your City Attractiveness you nee to select a ship, supplies and crew and go on an expedition. Zoom out to view what expeditions are availble on the map. Once you have reached the destination and made your decisions you must return to your city to recieve your three rewards, one of which will can be a new animal for your zoo.
Museum Artifacts
Getting new artifacts for your museum is similar to getting rare animals for the zoo in that your main sources for gathering them will be expeditions and trade with other nations. As with the zoo the outcome is increased City Attractiveness.
Expansions
Make sure you expand your city wisely and consider that you have limited funds and having too many buildings may lead to bankruptcy. You also need to make sure your dwellers are happy with the expansions otherwise they will start to organise protests.
Build Shipyards
Send out your boat to explore the surrounding waters, when you discover islands that contain useful resources build a shipyard there so you are able to exploit the newly discovered island.
Establish Colonies on Islands
Focus on getting islands you discover with resources producing as quickly as possible by establishing colonies there. This will involve building factory and residential areas. Make sure you keep these areas separate so you increase the overal happiness of the residents.
Unlock Amazonia
You will unlock 'The New World' once you recruit craftsmen and have constructed half of the buildings that are available to that social class. One of the things you will be able to do once you have access to Amazonia is set up a production chain that creates luxury clothes.
