Arcanists are powerful offensive spellcasters that can utilize black magic and combine them to more powerful attacks. They have the highest M. Atk rating for all classes and naturally favors rods.

Specialty: Absorb M. Damage
Recover HP equal to 25% of the damage taken from a magic attack. This effect is not triggered by damage from poison, nor by damage that results in K.O.

Abilities

Legend

Red Abilities = These are activated after selecting them in the Abilities menu during a battle

Blue Abilities = These are support abilities that will only take effect after assigning them to a character. If you change to a job whose specialty is the same as the support ability you equipped, it will be removed automatically.

Ability Level Effect
Corpse 1 75% chance of inflicting Doom to a target.
Black Magic Amp 2 Raise the MP cost of black magic by 1.5 times and raise its damage by 1.25 times. This can be set at the same time with Max Black Magic.
Exterminate 3 Deal a tremendous amount of dark damage to all poisoned allies and enemies.
Absorb M. Damage 4 Recover HP equal to 25% of the damage taken from a magic attack. This effect is not triggered by damage from poison, nor by damage that results in K.O.
Twilight 5 Instantly slay all sleeping allies and enemies. This doesn't work on certain enemies such as bosses.
Save BM MP 6 Lower MP cost of black magic by 25%
Sacrifice 7 Sacrifice 25% of your max HP to raise your magic attack by 50% for 3 turns. Upper limit for this is 150%.
Zero 8 Raise the damage of magic attacks to 1.5 times normal when the last digit of your current MP is 0
Convergence 9 Increase the damage of magic that can only be group-cast to 1.5 times normal by focusing on a single target.
Annihilation 10 Unleash a dark-based magic attack to all allies and enemies with -1 BP or less. The lower the targets' BP, the greater the damage.
Status Ailment Amp 11 Raise the chances of inflicting a status ailment.
Iniquity 12 Unleash a dark-based magic attack to all allies and enemies with 1 BP or more. The higher the targets' BP, the greater the damage.
Max Black Magic 13 MP cost of black magic doubles but does 1.5 more damage. This can be set at the same time as Black Magic Amp.
Interment 14 Deal high dark damage to all enemies.
