Remember to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Assassin's Creed Odyssey
When starting off, explore the surrounding area to find resources and items, and to familiarize yourself with the environment and combat. Each area have discoverable locations with minor objectives like killing threats or recovering loot. Complete them to fully “explore” the location and earn EXP. Fully discovered/explored locations will have a check on the map.
As soon as you reach LV2, get the Revelation (Assassin skill tree) skill first. This allows you to scan your immediate area to find items, resources, and automatically tag enemies even behind cover. This is especially useful when you’re sneaking inside a building, house, or a cave.
Caves usually have ore deposits on the walls or high ledges. “Pinging” using your Revelation skill will allow you to find these deposits easily. You can also use these ledges as vantage points for hunting prey or targets.
Quicksave often! Perform manual saves regularly as well. A lot can go wrong and having a good amount of save points will save you a lot of time and headache in case you’ll have to repeat missions. It will be a good practice to manually save before tackling a quest.
Level differences mean a lot. Level determines your HP, damage, and the gear you can equip. Be careful when exploring and take extra precaution when facing enemies 1-2 levels higher than you. Always follow the recommended level for a particular area. These areas are particularly manageable to explore when you’re at least a level below the recommended.
The interact and loot/steal button are the same. Be careful not to accidentally steal an object when you’re just trying to talk to an NPC.
Check your local map often (zoom in and out using your right stick) to keep track of mercenaries hunting you down. It’s recommended to fight them when you’re at least even-leveled.
Elevation and stealth is important. While you’re capable of engaging multiple enemies at once, taking them out in creative, stealthy ways is still more fun and advantageous. Look for spots you can climb or vegetation where you can hide.
Keep your gear updated! Always check the blacksmith after leveling up or completing a couple of quests to replace your outdated gear and swap to more powerful weapons. You can always dismantle old weapons to recover some of its Materials.
