This contest awards the Bug Trophy to the villager who will be able to catch the largest bug during the 6-hour time period and gives it to the Town Mayor Tortimer. Talking to the Mayor will provide you hints on how large is the current leading bug, and will get you a furniture item if you are able to catch a bigger bug than the last one that you have caught.

To easily win the tournament, open up your gates as you will get the chance to catch more Bugs as the other villagers are resting in their homes. As much as possible, catch either a Birdwing Butterfly, Emperor Butterfly, Peacock Butterfly, Tiger Butterfly, or Banded Dragonfly.
