Control is an action-adventure game that revolves around the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a secret U.S. government agency tasked with containing and studying phenomena which violate the laws of reality. You play the role of Jesse Faden, the Bureau's new Director who explores the Oldest House, the FBC's paranormal New York headquarters in search of the enemy known as the Hiss. Once you find this antagonist you will need to wield Jesse's supernatural powers in order to defeat it. Check out our walkthrough, guide, strategy page to get some tips on playing this supernatural thriller.
Keep Moving
During combat the best strategy is to keep moving at all times. The enemies you will encounter will try all sorts of tactics to get to you, these will include rushing you, trying get on your blindside, and attacking you from the air. Control does not have a cover mechanic to protect Jesse so the best tactic for her to stay out of danger is to be constantly moving so she is not a stationeary target.
Evade Ability
One of the best abilities that Jesse has at her disposal is her Evade ability which allows her to move about on the battlefield quickly and effeciently. Take advantage of this ability to conserve your health and help gain ground on enemies. It is important to remember that although you will still be able to move if you have the Shield ability activated you will not be able to make any offensive moves.
Equip Mods that Regain Health
You will find yourself low on health a lot of the time so whenever you kill an enemy and they drop a small amount of currency it is essential that you invest it on health regeneration mods to increase your chances of survival. The better the mod the more health you will get back so it is important that you pay close attention to the enhancements you pick up.
Use Supernatural Abilities while Reloading
Firing the conventional weapons that Jesse has at her disposal too much will cause them to overheat and activate a cooldown timer so you need to use your ammo wisely. When you do notice your ammo getting low you should look to utilise your supernatural abilities against enemies instead. Throwing objects at antagonists with Launch for example will deal as much damage as a clip of bullets.
Leveling Up
Unlike other games there is no level attached to your character, there is however a level attached to enemies which ranges from one to six and as long as you are constantly improving your powers at every opportunity as you progress through the game with the upgrade points you get that can be slotted into a skill tree you should be able to defeat whatever foe you encounter.
