In Deep Rock Galactic, missions make up the core gameplay where the most tenacious dwarves receive huge bounties for completing riskier and tougher missions. However, for veteran dwarves that reached the end-game content, a long, challenging mission type called Deep Dives await. In this page, we will briefly cover Deep Dives, when you can unlock them, and what is waiting for you in this mission.
You can start Deep Dives through the Deep Dive Terminal back in your Space Rig (homebase). As an end-game content, only players that were able to promote their first Dwarf can access this feature. (You’re also required to use the promoted dwarf for a Deep Dive) Elite Deep Dives on the other hand will just require players to complete at least one Deep Dive. Players can Deep Dive as many times as they want and receive the XP, credits, and resources obtained for the dive. However, they won’t be able to obtain any new Matrix Cores until the dive resets. Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dives modes get reset weekly.
Deep Dives and Elite Deep Dives are composed of three missions each, with each mission containing two (primary) objectives each. Both objectives must be completed before you can move on to the next stage. Missions must be played continuously as well. All gear, ammo stock, HP, and mined resources will be carried over from mission to mission.
Here are some additional things to note about Deep Dives:
1. Beer buffs will carry over through all three missions in a single dive.
2. There are no crafting materials to farm from Deep Dives. However, if you encounter a Huuli Hoarder and kill it, you may acquire the crafting materials it could be carrying.
3. For Perks that can be used “X” times per mission like Field Medic, each mission will reset this counter, allowing you to use the perk’s active effect per mission.
4. When doing a solo Deep Dive, Bosco’s limited revive charges will reset between missions.
5. If a player already owns all Weapon Overclock Matrix Cores, he/she will receive Blank Matrix Cores as reward for the second mission instead.
6. If a player already owns all Cosmetic Matrix Cores, he/she will receive a mineral container (with 120 crafting resources inside) as reward for the third mission instead.
As discussed above, Deep Dives have two objectives per mission. There’s a total of 31 unique mission combinations that will be randomly generated/assigned to your Deep Dive session per week. The tasks for the primary and secondary objective can’t be the same.
Mission Type | Primary Objective | Secondary Objective |
---|---|---|
Mining Expedition | Collect 200-250 Morkite | Collect 200-250 Morkite |
Egg Hunt | Collect 4 or 6 Eggs | Collect 2 Eggs |
On-site Refining | Refine Liquid Morkite | NA |
Salvage Operation | Salvage 2 M.U.L.E.s | Repair 2 Mini M.U.L.E.s |
Point Extraction | Collect 7/10 Aquarq | NA |
Escort Duty | Escort the Drill | NA |
Elimination | Kill 2 Dreadnoughts | Kill 1 Dreadnought |
Black Box | NA | Recover 1 Black Box |
New hazard levels are designed and will only appear during Dives. Higher hazard levels will introduce at least two warnings.
Dive Type | Difficulty Available | Number of Warnings |
---|---|---|
Deep Dive | Hazard 3, Hazard 3.5 (2 Warnings) | |
Elite Deep Dive | Hazard 4.5, Hazard 5, Hazard 5.5 (2-3 Warnings) |
A player will receive a random reward as listed below:
* Mission 1: Blank Matrix Core (for Machine Events - see Random Events guide)
* Mission 2: Random Weapon Overlock Matrix Core (Get a Blank Matrix Core instead if you have already obtained all Weapon Overlock Matrix Cores)
* Mission 3: Random Cosmetic Matrix Core (Get a Mineral Container containing 120 crafting resources instead if you have already obtained all Cosmetic Matrix Cores)
Both ordinary Deep Dive and Elite Deep Dive have the same rewards. However, each reward can only be acquired once per mode, per week. This means that every week, you can get two Blank Matrix Cores, 2 random Weapon Overclock Cores (or two additional Blank Matrix Cores - see above), and 2 random Cosmetic Matrix Cores (or mineral containers containing 240 crafting resources - see above)
