Happy Home Academy

You can find Lyle in a desk near the door inside Nook’s Homes. He will become available once the player upgrades from a tent to a house. The player will also receive an introductory letter from the academy as well. The HHA’s main role is assist players in designing their homes.

The HHA inspects the player’s house daily (though you won’t see the actual inspection process or inspectors in that matter) and rates it based on the furniture and their positions inside the house. There are rating milestones to be reached; Lyle will award a player for reaching these milestones.

HHA Rating

HHA rates the player’s home from these categories:

• Absence of cockroaches

• Clutter removal

• Feng Shui

• Furniture positioning

• Furniture theme, series or set

• Flooring theme, series or set

• Wallpaper theme, series or set

Notes:

• A home’s basement is never rated

• The Beautiful Town ordinance will prevent cockroaches from appearing

Furniture Series

Collecting the furniture of the same series will increase your home’s HHA rating. Using the flooring and wallpaper from the same series will further increase your rating. These are usually composed of practical and functional items.

Furniture Theme

Similar to the Furniture series, these items also include novelty items and decors. Having items belonging to the same theme will further increase your HHA rating.

Feng Shui

This superstitious tradition involves proper placement of furniture per color, theme or series in specific positions of a room. Correctly placing the items will boost the player’s rating and luck.

Good Bell Luck: Yellow items placed to the west (room’s left wall) will increase the chances of the player finding bells.

Good Item Luck: Red Items placed to the east (room’s right wall) will increase the chances of a player finding furniture or clothing

Good Luck Luck: Green Items placed on the southern wall will increase the player’s overall luck.

Theme Challenges

Once the player reaches the 150,000 point milestone, Lyle will visit the player’s house and ask the player to participate in the Theme Challenges. These includes the items inside and outside the house (excluding the basement). Should you need further upgrades, you can talk to Tom Nook. Players can change the challenges anytime by talking to Lyle again.
