How to build the famous sim town sign?

Keep doing regular tasks like work, Hobby, garden, etc. Until the game tells you that you have all the required materials, then go and tap on the build site to build it.

First you have to reach a certain levle. Then you have to complete ' The Road to Fame Quest' The sign is near the light house.

If you look at the Teen Idol Hobby when you complete Quests for drum beat you will get a TV Show Cameo resrource, when you complete quests for Electric Guitar Note you will get a Radio Interview resource, and when you complete the Singing Note you will get a Magazine Photo Shoot resource. You got one photo shoot from competing all the quests to get the sign.. So.. Just keep going on the teen idol hobby and eventually you will get enough to build the sign.. Not sure right now if there is any other way but I will keep my eyes open..

What you should do is do the teen Sims Hobby using instruments. If you are just starting the music part of the "Road to Fame" goal, then thats the teen sims hobby.

It seems to me that this is going to take forever. I'm already on my 2nd set of teen Hobby icons and you only get 1 light/clapperboard/mic each time. It Also means going back and using the cheaper instruments like the keyboard and electric Guitar to complete it even though they do not generate the icons needed just so you can get the set and start again.

Have other teens interact with the idol by swooning or clamouring for an autograph.

I've been trying to find the stack of magazines needed to begin the process but I can't seem to find it. I've looked in the household section of the build mode but all I see is bookcases. Can anyone PLEASE HELP ME.

Go to the teen section in the build mode, you should be able to purchase the magazines from there. You need to have a teen first for the teen purchases to be enabled!
If they're not in the teen section of the shop, try the sofa type section and a stack of magazines show up a one of the first Items...

Once my teen completed the 1st set to unlock the sign, I started interacting with neighbour's teens and got a couple of the resources doing that. Still haven't got enough to start building the sign tho, but remember to get the free premium instruments you get for competing the music tasks and keep playing them!

Complete the Road to Fame Quest in the given time and you receive free 3 star rated instruments and if you didn't that's ok.Go to your teens hobbie collection and if you collected all of the notes click start new collection.Complete all of the notes again and receive 1,000 XP and 1 of each resource for each instrument to build the sim town sign.

finish up the Quest Road to Fame when you complete this go to home store in teen section you will find 3 star instruments for free. Go to Hobby achievment collection of teen music scroll down and click restart collection. Collect them all again to get more resources to build the sign.
the best way of doing this faster is have atleast 5 teen to play all different instruments.

I have been getting town sign resources now and then by doing regular things like washing hands and using toilet. I find that the fastest way to get resources and bonuses to level up is to put two wardrobes or dressers next to each other in a room and have two Sims change in and out of swim suits over and over again, it doesn't matter if you use adults teens or preteen but they cannot use the same wardrobe at the same time. Just tap one wardrobe and chose change into swim suit or every day clothes to get one sim going, then tap the other wardrobe to get the other one changing. It takes just a second with two going at once, and once you get a rhythm you can get a lot of resources for the monuments, the town sign and bonus XPs to level up your town too. I got four town sign resources in less than an hour, as well as a ton of bonus XPs and monument resources. Put every one else to work planting or whatever and spend a couple hours doing a wash n repeat, (doing the same thing over and over) also have your teen idle collecting notes for the Hobby. Once you have all the notes collected for each instrument reset the hobby to start over again. It will clear the notes and you will have to have your teen start collecting the three notes per instrument again to get the reward, collecting all three drum notes gets you the Tv show cameo resource. Playing the electric Guitar gets you the radio interview resource. And singing gets you the magazine photo shoot. Once you have the three notes go on to the next instrument. Once you have all notes for all instruments you also get three LP's so it's worth it to keep doing the hobby again for that. Reset the hobby and do again. Good luck!!

Once you have the sign construction project in place having collected the required resources through random actions, you will then need to complete the Teen Idle Hobby set over - and over - and over - a LOT.

Completing that is how you collect the other bits needed to complete and erect each segment.

You build the sign through the Teen Idol Quests - you have to obtain the required resources via that Quest line and through random tasks.

You have to be at level 20 to recive the Quest. Then once you finish the quest it will be ready for you. Hope my answer helped! Happy FreePlaying!!

Get as many Sims as possible to do the Cooking Hobby. Have them all make the 1-minute cheese and tomato on toast. You will receive 5 LP after completing the Cooking collection. Only took me 45 mins to an hour to complete each collection. That way you can just upgrade the simtown sign using lp instead of finding resources.
