Devil May Cry 5 is an action-adventure hack and slash video game that is the fifth installment of the Devil May Cry series. The story is set several years after Devil May Cry 4 and tells how a man known as 'V' comes to the Devil May Cry office to hire Dante to solve a series of demon attacks occurring across the world. Nero who has had his arm ripped off of his body now has a robotic prosthetic arm called the 'Devil Breaker' and has set up his own demon hunting agency based out of a van. Nero's hunt for the hooded figure who stole his original 'Devil Bringer' arm leads him and his engineer friend Nico to Red Grave City and a powerful demon named Urizen. Dante also deduces that Red Grave City is the epicenter of the demon attacks he is investigating and they all soon discover that the city is where the demon named Urizen is growing the Qlipoth tree with human blood so he can nourish its fruit and become king of the underworld.
Human Difficulty
If you are new to the Devil May Cry series it is advised that you play on Human difficulty, this is the easiest mode in the game. Doing so will allow you to come to grips with all three of the playable characters, net you some much needed Red Orbs to buy skills, and allow you to practise your combos.
Taunt
You can make the combo meter climb by performing taunts, you just need to let the animation play out until the combo meter ticks up a notch. The taunt is best used in the middle of a combo after knocking enemies away from you.
Keep Moving
Avoid getting hit as doing so will not only take away a chunk of your health but also drop your combo score and disrupt your flow. Lock onto enemies and use horizontal jumps to flip away from incoming danger, and stay in the air as much as possible.
Practice
If you find Human difficulty hard you may want to consider taking a trip to The Void where you will be able to practise your combos against a foe of your choosing. It will also give you the opportunity to practise your evasive skills and master the art of parrying attacks.
Change your Controls
If you are struggling with the way the controls are currently mapped you can go to the 'Options' menu, select 'Controls' and remap almost every button to best suit your playstyle.
Spending Red Orbs
Make sure you spend your Red Orbs wisely. Although it may be tempting to spend them on extra Devil Breakers for Nero you may want to consider holding back as the game's levels are very generous in providing them. Use your Red Orbs instead on Blue/Purple Orbs and combo based skills as buying the right skills will ultimately result in you netting more Red Orbs overall due to the better rewards that accompanies higher mission ranks.
Replay Levels
You will always have the option at the main menu to replay previous stages and doings so will give you the opportunity to collect something you missed first time, explore more, or redo a fight to get a better rating.
Style Rating
Your combat in Devil May Cry 5 gets a rating by how stylish you win the fight. This can be Dismal, Crazy, Badass, Apocalyptic, or Savage and by using a variety of ranged, melee, and special weapons will help you get the best rating. Getting a good rating means you will receive some bonus Red Orbs when you finish the stage.
Combos
To rack up SSS combos it is important that you mix up your attacks. The game tracks what you do and the more you mix up the different types of attacks the faster the combo meter will climb.
