This is a multimedia minigame requiring a net connection and Uplay code that comes with every purchased copy of the game. The game becomes available once you have cleared 'Sequence 4: The Old Cove'. Uplay access keeps it playing on in real time, and some missions even take more than 24 real world hours to finish. Joining your friends in online sessions speeds up the playthrough. This game makes you use ships you have captured in Naval Combat to clear missions and unlock both money, upgrades, and Buried Treasure maps containing Upgrade Plans. After boarding captured ships, select 'Send to Kenway's Fleet' in the options to include them in your fleet. Your fleet ships never level up. You just have to find the ship better suited for you. These are categorized by the type of the ship and location where it was found.
Purchasing docks are needed for more ships. These can be bought for various gemstones. Cargo is required to begin missions, and you can get more resources by engaging in naval battles. To start a battle, select the location first, then select 'Battle'. Next, you will select from your own ships the ones that you want to bring in to battle. Witness the battle, and if you are victorious, you will be rewarded with resources. Fire barrels can also be used to deal more damage to enemies. Naval routes indicate danger by markers such as - green for safe, yellow for hazardous, orange for dangerous, and red for treacherous. More hostile routes are guarded by more powerful enemies. Just one ship can be deployed on a mission. Only missions that have the minimum number of needed resources can be taken. Choose a route first, then select the mission in that route. You may have to clear some battles first for required cargo if you ran out of missions. After each mission, go back to Kenway's Fleet to receive your rewards.
You can always reject any battle and try again if you are not comfortable with the enemy ships you are currently facing. Enemy ships will change every battle, so you can always deny an unfavorable battle and keep trying. Deploying just Man O' Wars will actually make you lose the speed advantage of smaller ships. Max out the size of your docks so you could bring a couple of Schooners for clearing the least dangerous routes, then some Brigs for cargo capacity and better speed, then just include Frigates and Man O' Wars afterwards.
