To get in and around the game, you simply have to click on the Map tab at the bottom of your screen. Here, you'll be able to access the "Map" which would generally take you to the different locations in the game. We've marked and listed down the spots and a summary description below to get you an idea what to expect in each location, and figure out what it is for. This timer basically indicates the time left before the currently present animals in the map gets rotated for another set of animals. What this means is that unless you have their calling card, you may not be able to fulfill any of their requests during the time you are not able to interact with them. If that is the case, it is best that make the most out of the 3 hour time you get to spend with them when they show up.

Different Locations in the Map
If Fishing is your game, or at least what you need in order to procure an animal friend's request, then this is one place to go. There are two types of fishes in the game - fresh water fishes and saltwater fishes. If what is requested of you is a fresh water Fish, then you might want to head here for fishing. Fresh water fishes include Pale Chub, Black Bass, Rainbow trout, Koi, Crucian Carp, and Yellow Perch. Not limited to fishing, you may also pick some fruits from the trees found here. Similar to other locations, you get a one random visitor (other player) here and another animal friend which get a rotation (of other animal and people) every three hours.
Aside from your very own Garden (at your Campsite), you'll see much of Lloid (the swirling cactus) in Shovelstrike Quarry -- somewhat moderating your access and business with the quarry. Basically, you're doing his request every time you enter the quarry. Although you need something special in order to access this location -- a request of help from 5 of your friends. If they participate, and lend you help, just then will you be allowed to enter the quarry. Otherwise, you may opt to skip begging for help and pay 20 Leaf Tickets instead. You may earn valuable stuff inside the quarry by striking at spots which will pique your interest. Rewards will be random of course, but nonetheless valuable.
Just as you get introduced playing the game in its tutorial levels, you'll be set to meet a group of penguins to customize your camper van. Initially, they'll give you a free paint job to personalize your van, but as you play through the game, they'll offer services to modernize your van, expand a second floor, and assortments of unique pain designs to it as well. One more good thing about getting these services from them, they can loan you the amount and have you pay it any term you like.
The Market Place does exactly what it is supposed to be -- a market place. Here, you can check on Isabelle to reiterate to you the tutorial guide of the game or check on goals, find new stuff to wear from the NPC merchants, as well as to trade the stuff you've collected (foraging) for Bells. There will be different varieties of items sold here every day so take the time to check it every once in a while.
Similar to other Animal Crossing games, you'd be given a place to actually re-design according to your needs and preferences. In this game however, it'll be your very own Campsite. Given that you get to manage how your camp should feel or look like, you may re-arrange the stuff in it - in order to attract the different animals to visit you in the game. On a recent update of the game, you now also get to grow plants and flowers in your very own Garden as well. That aside, when other players do visit your camp (to probably give you kudos), they'll get to see how you designed your own space and the Amenities that you already have procured.
Breezy Hollow is a forest-like spot full of fruit bearing trees in it. During the tutorial level of the game, you'll be introduced to the place and perform actual fruit picking. Fruits found in this location include peaches, pears, apples, oranges, and cherries. There are also some trees that do not bear fruit at all, but nonetheless can be shaked by the players. Instead of fruits, these trees sometimes drop some bag of Bells. Similar to other locations, you get a one random visitor (other player) here and another animal friend which get a rotation (of other animal and people) every three hours.
Sunburst Island offers another great activity in the game as well - Bug-catching. While it may seem repetitive and easy, you'd figure out that the challenge of the game is to actually spot rare insects to catch as your animal friends would start to request them as your friendship level to them reach past level 7 onwards. Not limited to this, you'll also find random people here to which you could ask them to be friends with you. Aside from that, a rotation of one random animal camper will spend the time here for 3 hours - which in that time, you may choose to perform all of his/her requests.
