Operation One Pair
This is a timer based mission so the mission will automatically complete once the time runs out, regardless of the enemies remaining in the combat zone. Due to the number of ground enemies in the mission, bombs (UGB, XDSB) and air-to-ground Missiles are recommended to deal with the ground targets quickly.
For doing the mission for the first time, the A-10C will be enough to dominate over the ground targets though you can use other aircraft that you’re comfortable with, as long as you have means of dealing with the cluster of ground units quickly and efficiently. There are enemy aircraft patrolling the area, with several drones that will appear later in the mission, which can prove a challenge for slow aircraft like the A-10C.
There are three key enemy positions in the operations area: the airfield to the south, the base to the east and the military complex to the west. From your starting position, the nearest will be the southern airfield so head there first. Enemy aircraft will attempt to take off so you’ll get some free shots on them and destroy them before they can even take off completely. The aircraft taxiing on the runway can also be destroyed with standard or air-to-air Missiles. If your aircraft has an UGB equipped, you can destroy the aircraft on the runway by dropping bombs over them.
From the airfield, you can quickly head over to the mountain base to the east. Aside from the scattered ground targets, you’ll also have to deal with helicopters and harriers taking off around the base. You don’t need to destroy everything here; just destroy as much as you can in one or two runs then leave the area or use the return line (even when you’re told not to)
Finally, head to the military complex to the west. This is ideally the best place to attack last since the drones will arrive from the west, over the base. This will give you a chance to shoot down some drones for some bonus points while also having easy access to deal with the ground targets. Don’t forget to take out the pockets of enemy forces along the way between the bases.
Sophie Andre “KITTEN” (F-14D Super Tomcat)
In the western base, there’s a tunnel in the mountain that you need to pass through from the ground level. The tunnel is short so as long as you enter at the right angle and you fly slow and steady, you should pass through without any issues. KITTEN will appear in the southwest corner of the map, outside the operation area.
You just need to destroy as much targets as possible above the set threshold before the timer runs out. Airborne targets are usually worth more points but kinda harder to destroy compared to ground targets. Equipping parts that decrease the reload time of your Missiles and SP missiles/bombs will allow you to perform quick attack runs. Efficient use of UGBs can also destroy several ground targets at once, especially those clustered together.
Once the drones appear, shoot them down as fast as you can. As you wipe out enemy forces, more aerial reinforcements will appear, giving you more Chances to increase your score. You can refer to the mission result below to have an idea at least how much score is needed to get a Rank S.
