Placing Troops

Once you have the makeup of your army worked out, you just need to decide where, and how, to place them. This is not as easy as just whacking the screen on the closest square to the enemy base. You have to weigh up which part is defensively weakest, try to second guess whether your opponent has placed any traps, or is trying to draw you into making a mistake, as well as which units to hold back or draw enemy fire to allow weaker ones through unscathed.

Units such as Giants are great for soaking up fire and allowing other units, often those like Archers with low hit points, to enter the base and begin attacking, and these should be placed first. Many players also choose to hold certain units back, such as the Balloon, which can fly in at the end of the session to mop up any units remaining. At the same time, you shouldn't be afraid to send in a large mass of units if the situation warrants it - there is little worse in terms of tactics than seeing a player send half an army in, have it get decimated, then send another half in, when if they'd just sent them all it would have been an easy victory.
