You’ll reach Starkfort after rescuing all the canary boys in the Mythril Mines. Qada is found in the third floor which accessible by taking the northwest stairs in the first floor. You should be pretty leveled at this point with Star Pendants available for at least two of your characters. You can also get equip the Poison Immunity ability which is unlocked at LV9 Freelancer.
In case you don’t have any characters with Poison Immunity or you have limited amount of Star Pendants, you can have equip them with BP Recovery ability (LV9 Red Mage) to get extra actions to heal and attack. Have a dedicated healer and a backup healer as well.

Qada can use Water of Life at the start of battle which regenerates his HP by 1200 per turn. Use Dispel to remove it and force him to waste a turn by using it again. If not, you have to keep damage output much greater than that. Be careful when you see him at positive BP. It will be a good idea to put your characters on default the next turn when you see him go on default. He will use these attacks in succession: Dark Breath – a very powerful attack that can deal 5000-7000 damage to a single character and deal heavy damage to everyone, a regular attack and Poison Hi-Potion. As long as you can resist the poison, that will be one problem out of your head. Use the stored BP to raise fallen characters and heal them back to full HP. |
After the battle, you’ll get a Dragon Fang and the Salve-Maker asterisk. You’ll unlock a new party chat as well. (Organizing Items)
Digging up a dead thread here, but ehhhh...
To clarify, Dark Breath is a single target strike which deals damage equal to the health Qada has lost, so if he's on 25000/30000 HP it does 5000 damage. If he's on 20000 or less HP, it will do 9999 damage.
Good tip for beating him I've found is with the Pirate, with one but ideally two healers as well, and then whatever other class you've got to deal damage. I myself went with Pirate/Dancer/Red Mage/White Mage.
First few turns build up your default to 3, whenever he uses Water of Life I used dispel with my Red Mage, then when Dancer/Pirate are on 3 default use Dances to boost Attack Power and grant bonus BP, then with pirate use Shell Smash and Shin Strike (Or whatever they're called) to lower his defences, then spam him with Double Damage. If you can keep your MP up, and you're a reasonable level (My guys were Lvl 45) you'll steam roll him in a few turns.
There's no point in buffing up your armour, so I'd advise a higher damage loadout.
(Ran out of space)
His attacks will ALWAYS deal whatever health he's missing, 1000 damage + Poison, or whatever his melee attack does (which is less than 1000 at any rate)
Star Amulets aren't a necessity if you're strong enough to kill him rather quickly, but I would advise them, unless you don't want to swap out any attack buffing accessories.
.
I Have my characters about level 40 does that seem like a high enough level and their astrikes are level 10 is that good enough Edea is in Knight because i havent gotten Pirate Yet and Ringabel Is Black Mage Anges is in Khints Astrike and Tiz is Monk Should i have them in different Astrikes than those and When do you get Pirate?
Dark Breathe always did 9999 damage for me.
Qada's HP isn't 40,000, it's 30,000. I just used Examine in battle.
there are the very strong items here so with te right combinations you can devastate an opponent but its not very useful without a compound
Boots with the fur
Poot
Perhaps it would be more prudent to say that Dark Breath doesn't deal 5000 - 7000 damage; rather it deals damage equals to the number of HP he's lost during the battle. So yes, if he only has 1000 HP left, chances are, the damage of the Dark Breath is 29000 (no joke)...
