Sequence 03, Memory 03: Guild Contracts / Mediterranean Defense
When you come out of the CS and the memory above ends you will notice that there is a new marker on the map nearby -- this is the Pigeon Coop that you use to interact with the Mediterranean Defense Mini-Game that veterans of the previous game should be familiar with -- but if you are not, then read on...
This is basically a risk-type game in which you must take control of the different cities that are on the map by dispatching your Assassin Apprentices to complete various missions. Each mission will have a specified difficulty -- for example the first mission that you have access to now will be of a difficulty level that your only current Apprentice can easily handle on his own -- so it will give a 100% Success rating when you assign them to it.
Later missions though may not be so easy, so if you assign one of your Apprentices to it and the Success Rate is less than 100% you can assign an additionl Assassin or Assassins to the mission until you get it to 100% -- but doing so will split the XP from that mission among all of those assigned to it rather than giving it all to one. There is a small chance that one or more of your less skilled Assassin Apprentices could also die on a mission...
The ultimate goal here is to eventually take control of all of the cities on the map away from the Templar -- which you will need to do in order to 100% the game and gain all of the Achievements for it. The thing you have to remember is this: these are not instant missions. Some will take as much as 20 real-life minutes to resolve, which means you need to be aware of when you do not have a mission running and be diligent about keeping them active.
Your First Mediterranean Defense
The other thing you need to be aware of is that when your Apprentices are assigned to missions they are NOT available to be called upon here to aid you! This is not as big a deal as you might think, because soon enough you will be recruiting more Apprentices to your Guild, and once you get a few trained to Master you will want to assign them to lead Dens in other cities, both to secure them and because you have to do that with at least one of them in order to gain a slot locally for the 12th Apprentice that you need to train for one of the Achievements.
The Mediterranean Defense Interface |
In addition to serving as a good way to train your Apprentices, the game will also serve as a source of income for you (if you need it, but if you have been following the guide then you should have more money than you need at this point), and it is how you unlock the 12 Master Assassin Missions.
-- While We Are Waiting --
While we are waiting for the results of this first mission that we have dispatched an Apprentice to, it is time to recruit the rest of our Apprentices. Open the map and use 'X' to turn off all of the markers except the Recruit Assassin Markers. You have already taken over the Assassin Dens for the entire city if you are following the guide -- if you have not done that do it now -- then go through the entire map and recruit the Apprentices on it starting with the one here in Galata.
You have to have a free slot open to take back an Assassin. Send one of yours off to a city to open a free slot.
how do you take back your assassin if you send them to a city. i can only switch them with other but not take them back
