Sequence 02, Memory 04: The view from Galata
For this memory you are going to learn how the Hookblade assists in climbing -- the challenge that is required to get 100% Synchronization is to climb the Tower of Galata in under 60 seconds -- and as chance are you have already climbed this tower at least once before, that should not be all that difficult for you!
Before you start this challenge there is a good chance that in the process of doing it you are going to discover the one true weakness for the game series -- the controls sometimes suck. Every now and then they will do something you did not do, like jump left or let go. This is not new to this game -- long time players of the series will remember this painfully and clearly -- if you are new to the series you are discovering it for the first time.
Using the Hookblade for Rapid Climbing
The issues with the controls are rarely a bug and largely a component of how they function -- the rub to it being that there really is no better alternative because they are part and parcel a character of the games. It is just one of those things you have to accept. But you can improve your chances by following these guidelines:
-- Try not to stack commands, that rarely every works out well.
-- Allow each move animation to fully complete prior to initiating the next move.
-- Remember that there is a difference between jumping and hopping.
-- Remember that you have the Hookblade, and press B to use it.
When you get to the last set of windows on the main body of the tower Yusuf will go to the left. Sometimes if you get too close to him you will be forced to pause while he gets ahead which can keep you from climbing the tower in the 60 seconds allotted so instead of following him to the left, you should take the right-hand path the rest of the way up. Once you get to the top of the second level you will gain the 100% Synchronization.
At that point Yusuf does a Leap of Faith -- you should follow him down. This ends the memory and triggers the CS for the next memory.
