S5 M1: The Janissaries

Sequence 05, Memory 01 -- The Janissaries

The start of a new Sequence -- fresh mown grass, the smell of the Bazaar, and cinnamon buns. Ah!  OK seriously, before we head to the Bazaar and flag this mission you need to do a little preparation work. 

Find a Bomb Crafting Table and make yourself some Impact Cherry Bombs -- you do not have to use British Powder on these -- save that for ones that matter -- but you will need at least two but make three just to be safe...  And some impact Smoke Bombs.  The reason that you need to do this is that scoring 100% Synchronization on this mission requires you to use bombs to distract two Janissaries -- note that I did not say Janissaries two times mind you -- you only need to distract two of them.  No worries though, it should be cake!

Once you have your bombs head to the marker and flag the mission, then watch the CS -- and you learn that the Janissary Captain, Tarik, may be involved with the Templar.  He ripped off all of the imported rugs belonging to this rug merchant -- not proof of anything but still...  Once we accept the mission it is time to go off in search of Tarik, and then follow him.  The thing is you have to stay out of his line-of-site (LOS) so use the crowds and blend spots to do that, and follow him! 

Turn on Eagle Vision and you will see the route that Tarik took recently -- follow that and you will round a corner and see a group of Romani girls -- hire them and blend inside them and then walk to the corner to spot Tarik.  You can turn off Eagle Vision now, and when he finishes talking to the Guard, follow him discretely.  Even though you are blended you should still keep your distance, as he will shortly approach a security checkpoint with a pair of Janissaries at it.

Following Tarik, the Janissary Captain

Use a Cherry Bomb to distract them and then walk past the checkpoint, continuing to follow Tarik.  When you reach the next arch you will get a CS and then when you come out of it you will have lost yoru Romani escorts as  the game removes them and puts you in a blend spot.  I guess it was assuming that that was how you would arrive here...

Follow him to another arch for another CS in which he instructs two of his men to make sure that he is not being followed.  Use a bomb to distract them, then continue following Tarik -- he will come to a set of stairs and more guards -- if you are out of Cherry Bombs it is time to use Smoke Bombs -- pop one and then either sneak past or kill the guards.   He goes past a merchant area and starts yelling at them -- you may be attacked by an assassin at this point -- just kill him quickly and continue following.

He now passes through a darkened arch -- head to the roof and over, then jump down and run under the bridge and up the stairs and continue following Tarik across the bridge once he starts walking again.  At the far end of the bridge he has his meeting with the Templar -- and you learn what you wanted to know.

The mission ends here, you score your 100% Synchronization, and all is right with the world!  I love it when a plan comes together!  Oh, and well done mates!  The intel that we just gathered points to the next logical mission objective, so well done on that too!
