There are a total of 51 Trophies in the game, with additional Trophies to be added by DLC Expansion Packs.
Bear in mind that there are some bugs in the game that can prevent you from unlocking some of these, most notably the bug that, if you speak with General Washington in Sequence 9-1 BEFORE you have unlocked the second set of Frontiersman Tasks, you will lock out the Trophy for getting all of the DNA Tracker segments because unlike most of the Faction-based collection activities, for some odd reason the game does not track those conversations until after you have unlocked the second set of Faction Challenges for that Faction.
The PlayStation 3 version of the game includes all of the same reward items as the Xbox 360 version of the game, though for the PS3 version in place of Achievements and Gamer Points (G) the game rewards players with Trophies that come in four varieties: Bronze (the most common), Silver (less common), Gold (Rare), and Platinum (Ultra Rare).
For Assassin's Creed III on the PlayStation 3 there are actually 51 Trophies rather than 50, due to the well-established tradition of awarding a Platinum Trophy for unlocking all of the other Trophies in the game -- in fact for a lot of games the only Platinum Trophy is the one that is awarded for the unlocking all of the other Trophies, which is why many PS3 gamers refer to the Platinum Trophy as the "Game Completionist Reward."
If you are playing the Xbox 360 Version of the game please consult the "Achievements" Section of the guide for the detailed listing of the reward events as they apply there.
The PC version of Assassin's Creed III is not a "Games for Windows Live" enabled title and therefore does not include the standard Achievements as part of play on the PC. The digital download version that is available on Valve's PC game distribution network "Steam" also has no Steam Achievements associated with it; only game titles that are Steamworks titles have those. So if unlocking Achievements or Trophies are inportant to you, the only versions you will be able to do that in are the ones for the Xbox 360 and for the PlayStation 3.
Did You Know? Games for the PlayStation 3 that are region-designated offer players a unique set of Trophies? Because of that it is possible to have more than one set of Trophies for a game if you play more than one regional version of the same title. Food for thought.
The Trophy are presented below, in logical order first, and then alphabetical order for the general ones. There is no significance to the order they appear in and you will not be unlocking them in the order they are listed below. . .
Note: As I did not have access to the PS3 version of the game while working on this guide, all of the videos depict game play for the Xbox 360 version, however there is no substantial difference in the actions you must take to unlock the related Trophy, and as such the videos remain spot-on helpful :)
The regular Trophies in Assassin's Creed III are split between a larger number of Sequence and Story-based Trophies that are unlocked for completing the series of main story missions that are segmented into each of the DNA Sequences, and actions that take place as part of the efforts towards completing the story, and a smaller number of specific action-based events, some of which can be missed. For the most part however the missable Trophies can be completed by replaying specific Sequences.
For Trophies that require x-number of specific actions bear in mind that the counters for actions are separate from the regular game save system, and each action that has a counter associated with it will save independently from the game's auto-save system.

This Trophy is part of The Encyclopedia of the Common Man Collection quest.
Unlock Requirements: Retrieve every page for one of Ben Franklin's Almanacs.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-related Trophy; this Trophy will unlock after the player completes one of the Franklin Almanac Collections. The Almanac Collections consist of between three and four pages per book, and each page set unlocks a new Franklin Invention Recipe at the Homestead as well as adds the related Almanac to the bookshelf in the player's bedroom at the Homestead Manor House.

Hints & Tips: This is a missable story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player uses a field piece or cannon to target infantry troops. The first opportunity that the player has to unlock this Trophy is at the Battle of Monmouth. This Trophy can be unlocked by replaying the Battle of Monmouth. The easiest way to unlock this Trophy is to place the target marker between two groups of infantry and fire the cannon.
Unlock Requirements: Complete ALL progress tracker grid entries.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player completes the required number of progress tracker grids..
Unlock Requirements: Exchange undamaged pelts at all different general stores.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy requires the player to trade (sell) an undamaged pelt/hide/fur to each of the Merchants at each of the General Stores. The General Stores are easily identified by the signage outside. There are three General Stores in Boston, three in the Frontier, and three in New York City to which the player must travel and sell a fur/pelt/hide. Obtaining undamaged furs/pelts/hides is accomplished by making animal kills using the hand, the hidden blade, and for smaller animals, the snare.
Unlock Requirements: Complete all 12 Privateer Contracts.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player completes the final Privateer Contract..
Unlock Requirements: Witness a predator killing an enemy.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy is unlocked by witnessing a wild animal (such as a Bear, Bobcat, Cougar, or Wolf) kill a British Soldier. There are several events that are scripted in the wild during which you have the opportunity to observe this event and unlock this Trophy, however if for whatever reason you miss these, it is very easy to either lure one of these animals to the road in order to have them attack a soldier there, or to lure soldiers off of the patrol route into areas where there are wild animals that will attack them.
Unlock Requirements: Complete each of the epilogue missions unlocked after the credits roll.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player completes the third Epilogue Mission.

Unlock Requirements: Complete all challenges for any of the Clubs.
Hints & Tips: This is a missable Trophy. To unlock this Trophy the player must complete all three Challenge/Task sets for one of the Faction groups or clubs. These can be found in the log book off of the map menu in the game.
Unlock Requirements: After becoming fully Notorious, kill 10 Jagers before losing your notoriety.
Hints & Tips: This is a missable Trophy. This is one of a small number of the Trophys that most players have trouble with, not because the Jagers alone are necessarily all that difficult to deal with, but due to the fact that the player invariably ends up facing larger groups of mixed soldiers in the process. The video embedded below illustrates an alternate method for unlocking this Trophy that allows the player to utilize a hide in order to restrict their combat to just Jagers. It is also possible to find an isolated area in which only Jagers patrol after gaining the third level of notoriety. The burned ruins in New York presents several such opportunities.
Unlock Requirements: Uncover the mystery of Oak Island.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player completes the Oak Island Mission.
Unlock Requirements: Have a Trainee reach the Assassin Rank.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy is unlocked after the player levels one of their Assassin Apprentices to Master Assassin (Level 11). This is accomplished by sending the Apprentices on missions using the Assassin Apprentice Mini-Game (hold LB and hit X to access that menu) and by using yoru Assassin Apprentices to kill British Soldiers. Note that if the player completes all of the missions in the Apprentice Mini-Game while one or more of the Apprentices has yet to reach Master Rank, after a brief delay the game will make the final mission in each of the colonies available again so that the player can repeat the mission in order to continue leveling their Apprentices.
Unlock Requirements: Liberate all districts in Boston OR New York.
Hints & Tips: To liberate a district the player must complete a series of tasks that are specific to each district, and then kill the Templar Agent in that district. This Trophy unlocks automatically after the player has liberated all three districts in either Boston or New York City.
Unlock Requirements: Send a convoy to Boston, New York and the Frontier.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy unlocks automatically after the player has sent a convoy to any merchant in Boston, the Frontier, and New York. Note that the convoy does not actually need to arrive at its intended destination, the player merely need to send it. This Trophy unlocks as soon as the player sends a convoy to the third destination.
Unlock Requirements: Complete 50% of the Progress Tracker entries.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy unlocks automatically as soon as the player has completed half of the Progress Tracker entries. The player can estimate their progress by accessing the DNA Progress Tracker from the Start Menu in the game.
Unlock Requirements: Win a game of Fanorona, Morris and Bowls on the Homestead.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy requires the player to win one of each of the three games at the Homestead. Note that the games for this Trophy in the Homestead are the Expert difficulty level, and due to that, this Trophy will require the player to get lucky for the most part. Skill only plays a role in this if the player actually has skill in each game (seriously).
Unlock Requirements: Craft one of Franklin's inventions to decorate your Manor.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy requires that the player complete most of the Homestead Settler leveling missions; to craft the Franklin inventions the player must first unlock a recipe (or recipes) for them by completing the related Almanac Collections. After that they must level up their Homestead Settlers and they must obtain the special ingredients depending upon the Invention being crafted. The Franklin Inventions all count towards 100% game completion, so the player will eventually want to craft all of them.
Unlock Requirements: Complete 100% of all main mission constraints.
Hints & Tips: This is a story-based Trophy; this Trophy will unlock automatically after the player completes DNA Sequence 12 provided that they have been following the guide and in addition to obtaining all of the main mission requirements, have also obtained all of the optional objectives. Each of the Sequences in the guide are tailored to obtain this result.
Unlock Requirements: Hang 5 enemies by using rope darts.
Hints & Tips: To obtain this Trophy the player must use the rope darts to "hang" an opponent. This is accomplished by crouching on a branch above one of the roads and, when an enemy passes under you, hitting them with a rope dart and, without releasing the trigger, stepping off of the branch so as to pull the victim up into the air while the player is lowered to the ground, where they tie off the line. It may take a little practice to get the hang of this, but once you do finding targets to complete the five that are required for this Trophy is a trivial matter.
Unlock Requirements: Loot a convoy without killing any of its guards.
Hints & Tips: To unlock this Trophy you not only need to rob an enemy convoy, you must do it by incapping ALL of the guards. If any of the guards are killed by rifle fire if the other guards in the convoy form a firing line, you will fail this requirement because, even though you did not kill them, they died. Your best tactic for this is to go in with bare-hand selected as your active weapon and then keep moving around so that none of the enemy form a firing line.
Unlock Requirements: Perform a double assassination using a musket.
Hints & Tips: This one of the more difficult Trophys in the game to unlock. You should watch the video embedded below several times so that you understand what the objective steps are, and then go to the location depicted on the docks in Boston, as it is ideally suited for this effort.
Once you are at the location you want to be sneaky about grabbing the musket off of the rack on the docks (make sure it is a musket with a bayonet attached -- take a few steps away and then quickly move towards the first enemy and thrust the bayonet into them doing a body attack, and then with the Joystick moved to target the second enemy (exactly like you would do for a combo) pull the trigger to shoot them through the body of the first enemy and you will easily unlock this Trophy!
Unlock Requirements: Upgrade the Aquila.
Hints & Tips: You upgrade the Aquila using the book that is beside the Harbormaster. As you are going to want to have the Aquila fully upgraded anyway in order to complete the Naval and Privateer Missions as well as the Kidd/Peg Leg adventure, this will unlock as a natural consequence of that goal.
Unlock Requirements: Block a firing line 5 times by using a human shield.
Hints & Tips: If you are not quick when it comes to using human shields or you feel that this will be a problem for you, the smart way to unlock this (and thus get it out of the way) s to repeatedly fail the mission during which this is part of the tutorial. Remember that the actions are saved separately from the regular game save, so you can complete a statistical action (like using a human shield) and then immediately restart that checkpoint and it will still count.
The online Trophys for Assassin's Creed III can be earned in most of the online modes, however gamers who do not consider the online PvP modes for multi-player gaming to be their strong suit and who ordinarily do not attempt to unlock these types of Trophys will be happy to learn that they can also earn these through cooperative play in the form of the "Wolfpack" online Co-Op mode.
Wolfpack is the online multi-player cooperative mode in which players work together on teams to assassinate NPC's for points. Structured in waves that grow progressively more difficult the deeper in that you progress, you are much less likely to encounter gamers who like to play online in order to grief-play other gamers, a factor which serves to make these Trophys obtainable for any player willing to put in the effort and time to obtain the necessary points or conditions that unlock them.
Unlock Requirements: Reach level 20 in the multi-player mode.
Hints & Tips: Ranking up in the online mode of the game is a points-based process and the game does not care what mode you use to obtain the points. That being the case, and due to the incredible number of annoying griefers (most of whom seem to have the squeaky voice of pre-puberty pre-teens when you listen to them in the game as they smack-talk) you may find that you are better served in playing the online cooperative mode (called Wolfpack) than the player-versus-player modes. For extra points you should make an effort to complete the NPC-driven tutorial as well.
Unlock Requirements: Reach Sequence 10 in a map on Wolfpack multi-player mode.
Hints & Tips: This should come very easily if you are utilizing the Wolfpack method for gaining rank anyway. All that you need to do to unlock this Trophy is to reach Wave 10 in a game of Wolfpack.
Unlock Requirements: Customize your multi-player Profile and Character.
Hints & Tips: Once you have earned enough money to purchase a customization item, you simply need to buy one and then apply it to your character. Note that just changing a characteristic is not enough to unlock this, you actually must buy and then apply an item.
Unlock Requirements: Unlock a hacked version of one of the Abstergo videos in the story quest.
Hints & Tips:
Unlock Requirements: Be on the winning team at the end of a multi-player game session.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy unlocks precisely as its requirement describes, you simply need to be on the winning team to unlock it. If you are not a fan of online multi-player and in particular player-vs-player type play the best advice that we can offer is simply play until you unlock this, which should not take too long if you are lucky and get teamed with gamers who are actually good at that side of play.
Most games use Secret Trophys -- Trophys whose description and requirements are not revealed until after the player completes the actions that are required in order to unlock them -- as a means to avoid revealing plot or story elements and thus, prematurely offering spoiler information to the players in the form of the Trophy requirements. That is basically the case here, so be aware that reading the requirements as well as the Hints/Tips section for each of the Trophys below has the potential to offer information you should not actually possess prior to reaching that part of the game...
Unlock Requirements: Complete Present - Skyscraper.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy will unlock automatically and is part of the story mode of campaign play. You cannot miss it as it is a required section of play in the game.
Unlock Requirements: Complete Present - Stadium.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy will unlock automatically and is part of the story mode of campaign play. You cannot miss it as it is a required section of play in the game.
Unlock Requirements: Complete Present - Abstergo.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy will unlock automatically and is part of the story mode of campaign play. You cannot miss it as it is a required section of play in the game.
Unlock Requirements: Find all pivots and sync the Animus to the Cloud.
Hints & Tips: This Trophy is unlocked after you have completed the story mode of campaign by playing through the last Epilogue mission and then working through the regions by placing your own Pivots in order to discover where the other player whose game yours has been linked to placed theirs. If you are lucky they will have placed all of their Pivots in logical places - and it would be a good thing if you did the same so that whoever gets your game placements in their game does not have a difficult time of it.
