The game has a wide variety of weapons and gears that you can use to increase your survivability and lethality. Each weapon and gear will have level requirements that will prevent you from wearing anything above your current level.
Weapons have a base value called DPS (damage per second) and directly affects the Warrior Damage stat. This is the attack rating of the weapon and the higher it is, the quicker you can kill enemies. Engravings are bonus effects permanently attached to a weapon. Higher rarity weapons will have more engravings. You can always add a new Engraving (that you have unlocked from the Engraving List) by paying gold and giving the required Materials to a Blacksmith.
Weapons come in different types as well. You have swords, daggers, heavy blunts, heavy bladed, staves, and spears. You can only equip one weapon at a time, but you’ll be able to equip a second weapon (and give you the ability to swap between the two weapons) once you unlock the Baseline Ability “Man at Arms” at LV15.
Swords and daggers are one-handed weapons, which will allow your character will use the Spear of Leonidas as your default second weapon. Swords are the all-around weapon great for medium-speed and ranged attacks while daggers have low DPS but exceptional attack speed.
Heavy blunt and bladed weapons are slow, two-handed weapons but deliver tremendous damage if they hit. This requires proper timing as swinging these weapons leave you open for counterattacks. The attack range and width depends on the weapon so testing them before using them in actual combat will help.
Staves are quick two-handed weapons that can deal medium damage but will allow your character to perform quick attacks and combos. Finally, spears are exceptional for quick piercing attacks, giving you a much needed distance, perfect for countering slow, bulky enemies while remaining relatively safe from their short-ranged attacks.
Your default ranged weapon is the recurve bow. Ranged weapons are perfect for hunting both enemies and animals. They have good range and using a slow, charged shot on the head will always result to a one-shot kill. The exception for these are mercenaries and soldiers with metal helmets where you’ll still deal a significant amount of damage. Unlocking new Abilities with the bow will allow you to craft special arrows, increase accuracy, damage, and even target/kill multiple targets in one shot.
You have 5 armor pieces: the legs, arms, torso, waist, and legs. Not only does these protective gear increase your defense, they’ll also further enhance your Stats with the help of their engravings. Like weapons, you can also add engravings to team to increase the bonuses they provide.
Your armor will also change the appearance of your character. If you don’t want your character’s face hidden by your helmet, you can toggle it by pressing R3 in the Inventory menu. This removes the helmet from your character’s appearance only but you’ll still have the boosts provided by the equipped helmet.
This can be done with the help of a blacksmith. Upgrading a gear will increase its level and its Stats. It will also consume a bit more resources. Rarer gear will require even more rare Materials such as Obsidian Glass. Upgrading a gear will retain its Engraving, including the one that you manually added.
