What are the types of Missions

There are various types of missions available in Anthem, these include Story Missions, Agent Missions, Contracts, Strongholds, and Freeplay.

Story Missions

To progress further into the game and unlock new options it is compulsory that you complete Story Missions. Reaching certain levels in Story Missions will allow you to access to the Strongholds. Story Missions can be completed either alone or with other players and upon completion of every Story Mission you will be awarded XP or optionally, Loyalty Points and loot.

Agent Missions

The side quests in Anthem are called Agent Missions and they are started by visiting Fort Tarsis and meeting with a quest giver who will usually be a member of one of the three factions. Completing Agent Missions can give you additional Loyalty Points for a given faction. Agent Missions can either be completed alone or with other players and after completing every Agent Mission you will be awarded XP or optionally, Loyalty Points and loot. Also, there are some side quests that once completed will unlock another related quest.

Contracts

In Anthem Contracts are minor side quests that are optional. You can accept Contracts them from the notice board which is located in the main part of Fort Tarsis or in the Launch Bay. There are standard and legendary types of Contracts with the latter being much more difficult but offering substantially better rewards. Contracts can either be completed alone or with other players. Successfully completing a contract will reward you a certain number of coins (the in-game currency) or alternately, Loyalty points and loot.

Strongholds

The hardest missions to complete in Anthem are Strongholds as you will face off against the strongest regular enemies and bosses. Stronghold missions puts a lot more emphasis on cooperation between players as objectives will need to be completed together and you will have to rely on teammates to get revived if you get downed during a battle. Strongholds require you to play with others. Invite friends or use the matchmaking option to join random players. After completing a Stronghold you will be rewarded with XP and sometimes Loyalty points and loot. Treasure chests appear more commonly in Stronghold missions, usually after every big battle. The Stronghold missions become unlocked when you either complete the main story line or reach a specific level.

Freeplay

In Anthem Freeplay is a unique type of expedition that combines exploration with random activities which are called World Events and they activate randomly on specific parts of the map. The objectives of these optional World Events are also randomised but successfully completing them will reward you with XP and occassionally with Loyalty points and loot. In World Events you will be able to search collectibles, crafting resources, dungeons, and treasure chests. To join Freeplay you need to join a public session where you will encounter other players.
