According to Wikipedia, HOTAS is an acronym of Hands On Throttle-And-Stick, is the name given to the concept of placing buttons and switches on the throttle lever and flight control stick in an aircraft's cockpit, allowing pilots to access vital cockpit functions and fly the aircraft without having to remove their hands from the controls.
For gaming, this is a full-sized, realistic joystick (that comes with a separate throttle unit) based on real aircraft controls for close-to-the-real-thing experience.
So far, I was able to find two officially licensed HOTAS flight sticks compatible to the game. You can try other flight sticks but we here at Supercheats cannot vouch for them or support them. These flight sticks work well with VR and will give you a really breathtaking, immersive experience. These peripherals are obviously not cheap and they SEEM to be best used together if you want to get the most out of the other; that said, it will be in your discretion if you’ll get a flight stick for better, realistic controls or if you want to further enhance your VR experience.
The first one, is the Thrustmaster Flight Hotas 4 AC7 Limited Edition which is officially licensed by both Bandai-Namco and Sony. You can configure this flight stick’s settings in the game. It comes in two versions:
- T.Flight Hotas 4 (for PlayStation®4)
- T.Flight Hotas One (for Xbox One®)
The second one is from HORI. They’re a well-known 3rd-party manufacturer of controllers and gaming accessories at a reasonable price. Unlike the Thrustmaster which has separate hardware for the PS4 and Xbox One, HORI’s flight stick is compatible to both platforms.
