Death Stranding is an adventure TPP open world game from Hideo Kojima, the famed video game developer and creator of the Metal Gear franchise. Death Stranding takes place in an America that has almost been completely destroyed in a series of explosions that have brought a series of supernatural phenomena called the eponymous Death Stranding. Well-meaning institutions attempt to reconnect the country by expanding a curious communication system called the chiral network, where porters deliver cargo to remote waystations in exchange for recruiting them as members of the newly-established UCA (United Cities of America). Check out our Death Stranding Guide and Walkthrough to get help in reconnecting isolated cities and a fragmented society.
Complete Main Story Missions
Unravel the mystery of Death Stranding by undertaking and completing the Main Story Missions. Doing so will enable you to progress in the game and also reward you with additional items and features that can help you on your journey.
Complete Side Missions to Earn More Rewards
In Death Stranding Preppers are characters who live, alone or with their families, in isolated bunkers across the continental United Cities whom Sam can make deliveries to. They also provide optional side missions you can comlete for rewards and connections to the Chiral Network.
Manage Item Balance
Sam will be traversing different kinds of landscapes as he makes his deliveries and it is important that you always ensure that the weight is balanced as he travels to help prevent Sam from tripping. Tripping can cause your items to get damaged, lowering your completion grade and reducing your rewards.
Use the Chiral Network Terminals
In Death Stranding the Chiral Network is a Bridges communication network that provides coverage of established strands across the continental United Cities. By using Sam's Q-Pid you can access the Chiral Network Terminals to get regional information on points of interest, Preppers, and interact with the objects left behind by other players.
Drop Cargo before Scouting an Area
In Death Stranding, Sam needs to deliver precious cargo from Point A to Point B. If this cargo is piled up too high he will be easily spotted while scouting around an area that has enemies. To prevent this from happening you need to drop the cargo somewhere safe before you go exploring.
Search the Catchers Lair
The first thing you should do when you are transported into the catcher's lair is search the area and collect anything that you can use. Blood bags in particular are especially useful as they allow you to use hematic grenades and the BT gun without expending your own blood. They can also recover a moderate amount of your health which will help you stay alive longer during combat.
Use Stealth Attacks
As you are outnumbered and outgunned in Death Stranding the most efficient way to take enemies down is by not being seen. Perform stealth attacks by crouching and sneaking up to your target from behind and then binding them using the strand. Make sure you stay behind cover whenever possible and try to make no noise.
Fight on Sturdy Ground
Make sure when you engage in combat against catchers you give yourself better mobility by standing on sturdy ground such as the tops of buildings, cars, and debris. If you are half-submerged in the water when you take on a catcher you will be easy prey for them.
Avoid Beached Things
'Beached Things', also known as 'BTs' are otherworldly entities that have somehow 'stranded' themselves on Earth following the Death Stranding. They are antagonistic towards the living and seek to devour them. When Sam enters an area with Timefall, he will encounter Beached Things and you should steer clear of them at all costs to avoid being dragged into their dimension.
Keep your BBs Stress-Free
In Death Stranding a 'Bridge baby', also known as a 'BB', is a baby that has been taken from a stillmother to be used by Bridges operatives due to its connection to the world of the dead. BB's are mainly used by Bridges operatives to sense the presence of Beached Things and because of their fragile countenance need to be kept believing they are in their mother's womb while they are in the portable pod. This can be achieved by keeping the BB stress-free.
